Marukuki online store on Zazzle

Graphics for Marukuki store on Zazzle, the other accompanying store for the original Coordiration journal, and currently in need of re-design (again) due to the service providers' change in the base store system, unfortunately. There's that dreaded black gradient looming there on the header image now, that's slowly becoming the plague to more and more of the community sites - flickr, facebook, google+ (death of pastel colored designs that, I'm afraid).

Their recent updates also made obsolete all the work I put on dispaying the store items nicely on subcategories page *dang it*

Should mention it here, if anywhere, that the mostly all too neglected Marukuki blog on the Japanese blogging site yaplog! sports this same gingham style (now, there's a user friendly and widely customizable site, if you ever saw one!).

Marukuki online store on Cafepress

Interface design, graphics and coding for Coordiration by Marukuki online store on Cafepress to match the layout settings of the original Coordiration journal. With interactive, animated menus and changing main page ads.

Frankly, fanciest of my sites design/coding wise, yet so little content. Oh, if only one could combine the store customizability of Cafepress to the product selection and user friendlyness of Zazzle's design tools.

Reminders of an old menu bar on the header and the footer here, that became obsolete after re-categorizing the store.

The original Coordiration journal

My labour of love starting from 2006. The original Coordiration journal (now "Coordiration by Marukuki") on Livejournal, which despite having seen some changes in style over the years still sports the very same pink dotted background as ever. Overtly pink, girly and filled with tiny "web retro" animated gifs - 'mainstreamly' waaay outdated already when the journal started - emulating the journal's thematic style of cute culture itself and the trends set by Japanese and other East Asian youth's blogging sites.

It always takes a while to get anything posted there, as every post needs to be scrutinized for appropriate 'emoticon' and decorative gifs to sprinkle in between sentences and all the accompanying tilbehör.

One thing dearest to my heart with the journal's upkeeping is the ongoing project of improving and adding to the "Francis the bear" mood theme little by little.

Francis - dressed Francis - relieved Francis - childish Francis - nostalgic Francis - hungry
Francis - busy Francis - pensive Francis - ditzy Francis - full Francis - productive
Francis - thoughtful Francis - peaceful Francis - thankful Francis - apathetic Francis - shopping
Francis - geeky Francis - working Francis - dorky Francis - cake Francis - optimistic
Francis - scared Francis - sore Francis - quixotic Francis - nerdy Francis - relaxed

Enfant Terrible

"Sweety Crosses", skin design for the Finnish net forums of Japanese street fashion enthusiasts, Enfant Terrible. Finally got that old minty default skin replaced recently. Would love to design more of these in various styles for the different subcultures contained within the community (hime, gyaru, goth...), when ever time allows.

Sanrio - Rococo Medallion

Another design for the Sanrio T-shirt design contest at WeLoveFine.com. This time a My Melody / Hello Kitty collaboration:

Rococo Medallion

The winning design will be decided by popular vote, so it's up to you to decide which one will make it! If you like this design be sure to vote, share, re-post, blog, link, fave... spread the word about it by any means most suitable, to help your favourite gain popularity and ratings.

This is a great opportunity to show Sanrio
what kind of styles you'd like to see from them.

Though all 'cute' - as is to be expected of Sanrio - the submitted designs each represent bit different sensibilities: 90's retro pop kawaii, girly pink romantic / sweet lolita, navy chic and what I can think might be concidered "glam", "swag" or "bling".

By rating the designs that best represent your tastes you'll be indicating what kind of styles you'd prefer to see.

Looking at you lolis here! I'm entering this rose-y rococo-ish design precisely so that there'll be a girly pink option as well among all the multicolored 'pop-kawaii' (nothing wrong with that either - just making sure lacey pink princesses aren't forgotten ^^')

I'm taking part with four entries and posting them as they get approved. Expecting one more after this. You can see all of the designs here.

All participation greatly encouraged and sharing truly appreciated \(^ o ^)/

Sanrio - Dreamboat

Only just found out about this couple days ago, but was able to scramble something together in time - few of my designs will be taking part in Sanrio T-shirt design contest over at WeLoveFine.com for a chance to be featured on an official Sanrio merchandise. This is one of my entries with characters Kiki and Lala, the Little Twin Stars:

Sanrio - Hello Sailor

So exciting! Few of my designs will be taking part in Sanrio T-shirt design contest over at WeLoveFine.com for a chance to be featured on an official Sanrio merchandise. This is one of my entries with the ever famous Hello Kitty herself:

Delicate and elegant choice for your seasonal greetings. Invitation template creates beautifully hazy, frosty look for your photos. Use any of your photos of loved ones, holiday travels, home or pets to create wonderfully elegant and professional looking greetings and invitations. Start for a new blog

Starting a new blog I've been needing for a long time: a proper place to post and archive the less cutesy stuff I make and observe. Hopefully it'll also serve a purpose of keeping me visibly more online active too, when working on things other than the girly pink stuff most of my online outlets focus on. This here is one such 'other' project and a fine start for the new blog:

Coordiration Christmas card collection 2015

Been making these sets of Christmas card templates for the past few weeks. They're finally published now and available for viewing and order in the Coordiration store (* . Each card and it's accompanying labels, stickers, postage and such are customizable and allow you to add your own photos and messages to them. You're most welcome to come check them out and try them with your own photos :)

(* re-purposing the old name and address, as the girly cute stuff has moved under "Marukuki" name. "Re-branding" of sorts if you will. Going to be confusing with the original Coordiration Livejournal address, which still serves as my main 'hub' of all things pink, but that's way too dear a location to move elsewhere. Quite too much history there.
